I can not let another year go by without expressing our gratitude and the humility we have for the Kelley & Uustal Law Group. Although my grandfather has passed away as of April 2020, he lived a long 13 years of financial stability which afforded him to fund his own life and to continue to take care of his existing family. Being confined to a bed and placed under 24-hour care for the remainder of your life does not come cheap. My grandfather was able to live in his personal home with his family, obtain all the equipment to assist with his daily living, and was able to afford travels so he could vacation with the family. All of this was possible because of the hard work, dedication, expertise, and willingness of the Kelley & Uustal law group with Todd Falzone and his paralegal Jody leading the way. From day one you all came out in authority. The presence of accomplished was felt the moment I walked into the law firm and was constantly greeted by everyone in there without anyone knowing who I was and why was I there. Todd Falzone was by my side every step of the way, through depositions, hospital dilemmas, nursing home difficulties. I called him for everything, and he always responded, and when he could not Jody would always make the call. I was never ignored; I was treated more like family. The day of court I was so nervous, but Robert Kelley and Todd Falzone always looked over to their left where I was sitting with a bright smile on their face. I knew if they were smiling, I should have been smiling too. I also looked to the rear of the court room and saw Mr. Uustal there in support of his colleague, and I can remember thinking these guys are the real deal. My grandfather’s entire case was expensive and the care he received prior to winning the case was even more expensive. The lawyers at RTR are fantastic. They are very kind, respond quickly to emails, are very understanding and accommodating, and go above and beyond for their clients. That being said, I didn’t realize until meeting a man in the state I currently reside who happens to be an investigator for a personal injury law firm how much I was screwed over by this firm. I was not at fault and no or little efforts were put forth to investigate. I didn’t have the ability to press the issue at the time, as I was simply trying to survive after the accident. Not only do I live in constant pain and have a bum knee that severely impacts my quality of life, but due to a lifetime of abuse I am poor, chronically homeless, without a support system and desperately needed more than the little bit I got. While I was very appreciative of my lawyer’s efforts to be supportive as I left Florida to get away from abuse and dealt with homelessness and suicide attempts, I did not appreciate all of the invalidating, dismissive, and critical comments. I should have accepted that my lawyer is a man of privilege who was unwilling to listen to me and felt entitled enough to speak authoritatively on subjects he knows nothing about, instead of driving myself crazy trying to get him to listen and understand. Since I had no one else to turn to I was extremely grateful that he tried to support me (especially since he didn’t have to), but was blind to how damaging it was. For the record, help doesn’t exist in this country. If you’ve been dealt a bad hand in life, you’re screwed. It does not matter how hard you try, a good life is nearly unattainable for someone like myself. The system not only doesn’t help, but just makes a horrific situation worse and no one else will help you. Despite begging for help, I am once again homeless because of ending up in another bad situation since I don’t have the means to better my life and escape this cycle of homelessness and abuse. Sadly, society does not care about people like myself, despite having survived incomprehensible atrocities that continue to negatively impact every aspect of my life. We are punished for being victims, ostracized and treated as less than human. Not only do I wish the car accident had killed me instead of just injuring me, I also wish I had never hired RTR as in the end they just caused me a lot of emotional pain. I’ve been struggling to let this go, so posting in hopes it will help me move on.
