We were involved in a horrible car accident where the party at fault had way too much to drink. Thankfully, we all survived the impact but we were left with a lot of medical bills and therapy following the event. At first, we thought we could trust the insurance company to secure our best interest, but shortly after the accident we received a call with a settlement agent trying to get us to agree to a minimal amount, promising that we would not seek further damages. Before I said anything I felt the need to seek counsel. We called several law firms in the Austin area. It wasn't until we spoke with Paul Colley, though, that we felt perfectly comfortable and we knew we were in good hands. I am in my mid 40s and I know that experience counts for a lot. There are a lot of young kids out there, claiming to know which end is up, but sitting down and looking these guys in the face, you know that the only thing they want is to settle your case for whatever they can get so that they get their share of the deal. It's a sad state of affairs, but nothing could be truer. When we met with Paul, his focus was not on settlement but rather on understanding the circumstances of the accident. I have always been leery of lawyers. Because of my aversion, I avoided contacting an attorney until late in my case. I had tried to navigate the workers compensation system myself and naively thought that because I had been a model patient for my doctors that everything would work out.
