Luke was retained to handle a minor issue for a family member of mine. Luke was prompt, friendly and professional. Luke researched the issue and discussed the defense with us prior to the trial. My fiancé reached out to Mr. Bodiford regarding a 3.850 motion. He agreed to accept the case, but then suddenly stopped any form of contact, ignored calls and several emails. Very unprofessional and NOT recommended. Money was not an issue, so there was no apparent reason to act that childish whatsoever. Promised my son an outcome that was never an option. *** I felt the need to edit my original review above due to recent events after reading the below blanket statement response. I believe wholeheartedly that Ryan Davis misrepresented what he could do for my son. I tried to call Mr. Davis regarding this and he told me that he would call me back after receiving permission from my son to talk to me. He called my son and admonished him for having me call. He never returned my call. I sent him two emails regarding this situation. He has threatened to take action against me for slander for posting this review as well as contacting law enforcement for harassment for sending him the two emails. These are his words: "If you keep attacking me with your lies I will be forced to take whatever legal steps I can to protect myself from you libelous and slanderous statements you have made to me and in public forums. Do not contact me again, as I also stated in my last email. If you do, I will consider it harassment and report you to law enforcement." I am NOT lying. Just look at his response to this review and determine for yourself who is the liar. In fact, Mr. Davis is so concerned about his reviews that for every bad one that me or my family has posted he has had someone post a good one to get his stars back up. Just look at the timeline of the reviews. This is not an honest person. My son was advised by two different attorneys that he did not have a case. Mr. Davis told him that he could help him and once he handed the money over told him he could not. This is not the first time this has happened. Look at the other reviews. Josh went above and beyond what normal attorneys do for their clients. He helped me file a motion and in less than two weeks after hiring him he’d already done all the footwork talking to the prosecutor and all involved parties and had the motion granted the same day he filed it. This attorney doesn’t always do for his client. In my experience and opinion with this person, he took my money and did nothing for me. He worked with the judge and prosecutor to ensure a prison sentence, talks poorly of you behind your back (even to your spouse), ignores emails, ignores phone calls, even had the audacity to call me a liar about a simple email. My very first interaction with the lawyer. He asked questions ‘why is your phone number from fort Walton’? My number for the record starts with (850).. Why does that matter? ‘ how do you expect to pay it’ ‘ well I wanted to know your rates, or if I can get some advice’ ( at a lower price) Lawyer was very condescending. I am so upset with Rusty Shepard I don't know what in the world to do. I did not expect to pay my money for my calls to almost never be returned, left several messages, out of almost 2 years he contacted me twice out of 20 calls I've made and left several messages. My son who he's "representing " only saw him twice since we hired him and has been sitting in the county jail abandoned. I don't know what to do anymore other than to seek another attorney. I understand we're dealing with this pandemic and a lot has changed with the courts but the no communication is unacceptable.
