Words matter. Words matter double when paying for every single one. After interviewing ten lawyers, I was particularly impressed by Barry Schneider and his son, Carrie Schneider. Unlike the other attorneys I had spoken with, Barry and Carrie stuck to the point with great empathy and even greater efficiency; every minute I spent with them on the phone (mostly) or in person (rarely) was time and money well spent. My appreciation grew as we delved deeper into my complicated divorce case. They came up with solutions for issues other attorneys had told me not to touch. They were also honest and upfront about issues they believed would bare no weight in court. During the divorce we were bombarded with one settlement proposal after the next from my ex, most of them almost identical to the previous one. Barry and Carrie could easily have taken advantage of this situation, racking up my bill by tens of thousands of dollars, they did not. They responded only to the appropriate proposal/email/what have you. They both won my case and saved me money. So far three of my friends worked with Barry and Carrie too, and have had a similar outcome. I highly recommend these excellent and considerate lawyers.

Alan is a superlative lawyer and an absolute joy to work with. His depth of knowledge of the court system and Family Code made him utterly indispensable to me. He's a guy you can lean on. Alan was meant to be my attorney! I began my divorce process in 2009. When I started the process, I had, supposedly, one of the best attorneys in San Francisco for divorces. That was a disaster! The main attorney barely worked on my case. I was handed off to someone who would not listen to me and basically gave into my ex’s attorney. I found Alan through the yellow pages! Yes, the actual phone book! Alan’s background in psychology was exactly what I was looking for. I didn’t think someone who was a psychologist and attorney would exist! My case is probably the worst case Alan and Claudia has ever seen. Fast forward 5 years. Alan and Claudia are not just great attorneys but they are great people! I have given up hope so many times during the last 5 years, but Alan has continued to give me hope and support. Alan knows my finances are tight but he continues to advise me and helps me minimize my bills. Alan understands the “mind games” my ex plays on my daughters and helps me form a game plan. Both Alan and Claudia are accessible after hours and on weekends. I have gone through some extremely rough situations the past 5 years, and each time I needed to reach them, they were available. They are compassionate, empathetic, honest, and very straight forward. Alan will tell you exactly what he thinks is the best course of action for your case. I have learned a lot from both Alan and Claudia. Given the way my ex is, I’m sure I will continue to need Alan and Claudia on my side for the next 9 years! I seldom write reviews, but given my unique experience with Alan and Claudia, I feel I must let others know that good attorneys still exist. Alan and Claudia are extremely ethical and professional attorneys. What sets them apart from the rest, however, is their empathy and loyalty to their clients. Alan and Claudia are NOT just about the money. They are in it because they care. When I came to see Alan I had been through 2 attorneys, my case was a mess, but he still gave me hope and decided to take my case when others would not even consider it. The emotional support Alan and Claudia provide to their clients is rare to find in their field. My first attorney lacked professionalism and knowledge about all aspects of family law. My second attorney was from a well-known and large firm in the south bay that specializes in litigation. They were extremely expensive, and showed care about me and my case when I had the money. However, it was a different story when I run out of money and it was almost certain I would not get awarded attorney's fees from the judge given that they had awarded this large firm $150,000 that they immediately exhausted in just a 3 month period. This large, "reputable" and well-known firm, discharged me with absolutely no basis other than, I suspect, they knew the judge would not award them another large fee. I was then referred to Alan by another mother who had a very good experience with him. Alan was different. I had absolutely no money when I came to see him. He took a chance with me, but he cared about justice. He believe that fairness should prevail and he would help me achieve the best outcome possible for my situation. My case is still ongoing, but I can tell you that Alan has done more t than just fight for me and my children. He has given me hope and the belief that there are still honest and good people in this world. Alan is very much to the point and deals with honesty, so if you are not prepared to deal with him in this manner, then he is not the right attorney for you.

Sean is a EXCELLENT attorney. I interviewed several family law attorneys and he was by far the best. I was so relieved that I was able to retain him, he has never steered me wrong. He knows several approaches on how to go about winning your case. It depends on your style and what you want. He is able to be the lawyer you need. LAW: Sean is an expert in family law. There are so many times when my ex's counsel didn't know the law or was trying to do something shady, and Sean was spot on. He makes sure that the judge and other attorney's do the right thing. He fights for you and knows exactly what he is doing. If there is something he doesn't know or remember or a law changed, he pauses and does his research. He never makes anything up. He is humble and really great at his job. JUDGEMENT: Sean always guides me in the right direction. He knows and pays attention to whatever judge is ruling. Knows how they think and weighs the options for what has been done historically. He offers a few options, walks you through the risks and gains and then off you go. He is clear headed and sharp. WISDOM: Sean has seen so much and can offer advice on many fronts. He knows exactly what he is doing. He knows when to push and when to back off. CHARACTER: Sean has outstanding ethics. He will always guide you in the right direction. And he is always supportive, much like a therapist. PARALEGAL: Aaron is an absolute pleasure to work with. He always helps me and guides me. I worked with Sean over my divorce, and he made a painful time far less painful. My separation from my ex became a bit acrimonious as we argued over money and property, but Sean kept my eye on the ball and led me through everything in a manner that was fair and honest. It was very important to me that I never had the feeling that I was "getting over" on my ex, nor that I was being taken advantage of, and Sean fit the bill for this perfectly. Sean knows California divorce law really well, and in the situations where he might not know something exactly, he does't make something up; rather, he pauses and actually finds out what the right answer is. He and his paralegal, Aaron, are really well organized, which was key to moving things through quickly and so that I didn't have to duplicate or add to my efforts. Whenever I called or came in to his office, Sean had all documentation at his fingertips (this is a tip of the hat to Aaron) and he had all germane topics in the barrel, ready to fire them off, one by one. This good organization saved me money. The last thing is about Sean's character: He acts almost like an arbiter, rather than the stereotypical divorce lawyer that we all see in the movies. He's kind and patient, and communicates with empathy; he doesn't show bravado; he knew that what I was going through wasn't easy, and he respected that; he doesn't cut corners, but he doesn't waste time. Since the moment my divorce started I have worked with Sean. Two times I had to do modifications to my parental agreement and Sean helped me on every occasion always looking for the best interest of my daughter and me. He also looked for ways that could be beneficial for me in terms of not over spending money. He is also fast responding to emails and calls. On one occasion, prior to my meeting with the mediator and my ex at 9:00AM, he called me at 8:30AM to make sure I was ok for the meeting and to reassure me that things were going to turn on my favor if I followed his advice. That call made the difference and indeed the meeting turned out on my favor. My hats off to Sean, he has been very helpful with great advice and wonderful service. Always had positive outcome. Being a family law firm is hard. Divorce and custody issues are always fraught and no one walks away happy. Its easy to feel sour about your attorney as a result. The good part: Named partners are great, front office staff is great. The firm got me through my (uncontested) divorce in under 12 months without any major hiccups. Unfortunately the lawyer who actually worked on my divorce was not as good at communication or execution. Emails would sometimes go unanswered, calls were never returned, and requested copies of documents were never provided. In the end we ended up obtaining and filing some of the final paperwork ourselves rather than continue to deal with the associate.

Brent took care of my relatively straight forward divorce case. He made a great impression at the consultation meeting but unfortunately, I feel like I paid a premium price when I was not expecting mediocre service. After my payment was submitted, Brent’s communication made me feel like my case was not a priority and it was all about the money. I struggled to get his response for basic answers or explanations and I ended up having to pay more than expected and agreed upon. Overall, very disappointed, and I would not choose to work with him ever again.

Don’t hire a pregnant lawyer. I am a mother and I thought her maternal status would mean her understanding. What is actually did was she rushed through my case at the end because it was taking longer than she expected it would and was going to, and might interfere with her taking off for maternity leave as she was planning -instead of having another lawyer at her firm finish the job in a professional mannor. I got screwed over since I was self employed, she didn’t fight for the court to allow me to use my tax deductions (necessary costs of licensing and expenses to run a contacting business) these are allowed/deductables on my tax returns, and so the other attourney not wanting them allowed they increased my income by 40% so as much as the fathers who has no overhead expenses because he is an employee. So she didn’t press for it, the court added back necessary expenses and as a result I was granted only $180. Child support for my 2 young kids. This barely pays for a cell phone, a pair of shoes or any afterschool class for two kids. I referred a friend before my case was finished unfortunately-before knowing how awful a lawyer Erin is... My friends case was won because ge was abusive to their child. Father was ordered by court to pay the lawyers fees. Well my friend had already paid them because it’s required to be pais as you go along. So Levine Law Firm told her their policy is they don’t just give her back her money until After they collect it from the other party! He wasn’t even ordered to pay as much as she was to them-they don’t pay her back even monthly the court fees he’s paying back! He stopped paying and now they told her she has to take him to court again to get him to pay the court ordered lawyers fees (to get her money back from them once payments are completed) Wait- woukdn’t that be their job to collect payment from him themself, abd sue him themself if he didn’t follow the courts order to pay them? They still have not given my friend back her money, even for the part of the total bill they did get payment from the father. Levine Law Firm and Erin Levine are crooks and horrible lawyers working together with Erin.

Erin recommended working with and highlighted one of the most unethical, unprofessional, ineffective, and psychotic family therapists in the Bay Area, Alison Urdan, who is a nightmare to work with, devastating families and children, while carrying out her own profit driven agenda. She manufactures negative characterizations and works to give sole legal custody to fathers, especially in cases involving paternal domestic violence and abuses. Alison is not anything worth trusting your children or family to. Incredibly disappointing to see Erin blindly sell Alison on her website despite numerous attempts to let Erin know of Alison’s consistent history of wrong doing and illegal and unethical conduct.
