I personally take responsibility for everything in my life. When I do not have the knowledge or experience to perform the job myself I hire experts who can and Steve was the expert I trusted to represent me. Steve worked with me to make my complex case much easier than it could have been. I attended every hearing with Steve and he destroyed the opposition with clear, compelling and most of all totally truthful. Steve is busy and you may need to leave a message, this is a good sign... I highly recommend Steven Effman, he is a wonderful attorney, very professional, blunt and honest. He is well respected by his peers, and the judges. He knows his stuff. If I could put zero stars I would. Horrible attorney. My friend went to get an consultation and he was extremely rude, very insensitive and unprofessional. My friend is already upset of what is going on but this attorney did not help her at all. She came to you for help and represent her but the whole time it looked like you were on the side of the opponent. Thank you for setting her expectations like she wont win.

Nazarena and Leisa are highly knowledgeable and dedicated to their clients. They took my case which was very complicated. I had a previous attorney from a different firm that frankly, was not as knowledgeable and seasoned, which resulted in a lot of complications in my case. Leisa worked on my case initially, advised me on how to proceed and gave me a very honest opinion on my options. I valued that honesty and Leisa’s unwillingness to compromise the truth about the difficulties on my case. When my case was not able to be resolved through mediation with the other party, and litigation was my best option, Nazarena stepped in on the advise and recommendation of Leisa. This is example number one of why Leisa and Nazarena are a great tag team. Leisa recognized that the next phase of my case was best suited to Nazarena’s strength as a former prosecutor. Nazarena learned my case inside and out, planned out her litigation strategy, briefed me on it, on what would, could and should happen, and how she was going to respond based on all the possibilities that the other party had. I felt confident and extremely blessed to finally have a competent attorney by my side. I knew she was ready to litigate my case. I also noticed she was invested in my plight. I could feel my case meant something to her and she was going to do her best on my behalf. I loved that she was invested. I couldn’t ask for more. We were scheduled for a 6 hr trial... When we walked into court, the unexpected happened. The judge was coming strong at the attorneys related to procedural matters. Nazarena was making her arguments which led the judge to turn to the other attorney and the judges words, essentially, made the opposing counsel to fold their case. Opposing counsel seemed confused by the judge’s words and asked for the case to be dismissed. Motion granted. I won that part of the case in 5 min... My case is not completely over yet, as I’m dealing w a very difficult ex, but I I’m glad I made the switch to Nazarena and Leisa. They will do a great job for you as they have done for me to this day. ***UPDATE*** It’s been a little over a year since the initial review, and I wanted to express my continued gratitude to Family Matters Law Group. My case reached the best outcome possible. What seemed so hard and somewhat impossible became a reality. The amount of work and effort that Nazarena put on my case was the difference maker. I am so happy I chose them to take on my case. Like I said before, my case was not an easy case, and due to really bad circumstances and having an unseasoned previous attorney, I had many things working against me... fast forward to today, Nazarena was able to undo all those things and I am happy that things worked in my favor. My case turned so positive in my favor that my ex changed course and decided to be actually be a coparent. Many thanks to Family Matters staff. I highly recommend the services they offer.

I recently went through a divorce. Unfortunately, the first lawyer just took the retainer and did absolutely nothing for me so I fired her. Sandra was referred to me through someone else who said she was incredibly good and that I would be pleased with the outcome. That referral was a life saver for me! After I initially met with Sandra I knew she would fight for me and get me to the best possible outcome which she did. She stepped in after a long legal battle and within weeks closed the case with the results I hoped for. She first met me for the initial consultation and listened to all of the case details, asked the right questions and asked me for additional documents so she can further learn the case, after giving her the additional documents she made a legal plan and started working on the case, filing and responding to motions, schedule hearings and prepare me for every hearing. Most Attorneys will deal with you but don’t take cases personal and in a family law practice taking it personal I feel is the only way to properly attend to the case and that’s exactly what you get with Darren. I hired Darren Edwards for my divorce, what a mistake. he does not work hard for his clients as he should, or perhaps he does not care, as long as the retainers is full with money, quick to bill you even for a 2 sec phone call, that he purposely called for. I believe he is lack of experiences and incompetent when it comes to the family law and procedures. he is just talks but cannot maintained his words. I did not feel confident having him in my case, I decide to FIRED him one month before mediation. I was told by Mr. Darren as my attorney, (it does not matter even though there is an order signed by a Judge for my Estranged wife to pay for...etc. she never followed the order for months, according to Mr. Darren,, "a motion to compel enforcement of the order" to see the judge do not needed. what a Jerk. I don't know if he is incompetent or perhaps he does not know what is the motion mean. at the hearing, he is just like a little kid in the candy store, I don't think the Judge took him seriously, as my attorney I was embarrassed.,, it was not lack of money in the retainer because I make sure it had money at all time, I believe he was just there to set me for failure rather than fight for my best interest and my daughter, but thankfully there is a God. I believed all the positive reviews he received are all from his personal friends not real clients. Mr. Darren does not worth one star, negative stars is absolutely his best description. I hired a new attorney, now fixing all mistakes on the case. this law firm is positively a Joke.

When one considers divorce. The overwhelming thought of hiring an Attorney to help with the burden and all the legal matters and who to hire. There are many lawyers out there to chose from but you have to protect yourself and find an Attorney that you feel comfortable with. Not to mention the splitting up of families and assets that the couple have acquired together over the years and the huge financial burden that can come with this.
