I had a horrible experience with Botto Gilbert Law Firm in Crystal Lake. In late 2020, I was coping with the loss of my mother and during the same time frame, my wife was in favor of filing for a divorce. As you can already tell, this was the lowest point of my life and I pray that no one should ever have to deal with such crises. I hired Andrew, Attorney at Law to help with filing the paperwork at the local court and schedule a hearing with the Honorable Judge to expedite the divorce proceedings, our case was as simple as it could get, there were no claims made by either parties and our divorce was finalized at the first scheduled hearing, and with that said, Andrew initially agreed to take on the case for a total of $1500 and I would only be required to pay extra for the time and effort for any follow up hearings, and in my case – there were none. I paid an initial deposit of $1000 and we had a balance due of $500. Keeping my state of mind under the spot light, I mistakenly dropped off my rent check of $900 to the law firm and it was cashed soon thereafter. I was under the impression that I would be due a refund, but absolutely not! – this law firm will milk you for your money and do not expect to get a refund. I’ve been told, the law firm invested a total of 6.8 hours towards my case and the total amount charged is over $2200 -- (Andrew took on the case for $1500!!) – After speaking to the law firm numerous times, I’m being referred to the fine print of the agreement that I initially signed, which stated that they would charge for any extra time. I honestly feel that anyone hiring this law firm should get their agreement reviewed by another law firm to ensure there you do not get nickeled and dimed later; and I highly recommend that this law firm should advise their clients as soon as the amount being charged is reaching the threshold of the initial agreed amount to avoid any confusions later with their clients. Now in 2021, I am being asked to pay an additional $375 for the court cost that they clearly forgot to include in their initial quote. I work a minimum wage job and I simply cannot afford. I’ve pleaded multiple times to the office manager and their other Senior staff to waive the remaining balance, but they are standing firm. I’ll never recommend this law firm to anyone!

Go elsewhere, they are only concerned with making money! Had a brief interview with George in regards to creating a will. Submitted my paperwork and never heard back. Multiple calls to the office, they always said he was at lunch or not in, etc. Never available. They said that they would leave a note for him to call me. He never called. When I finally heard from him he said he wouldn't make enough money on creating my will and it was not worth his time. What a waist of MY time!

Liz Wakeman, Seema, and the rest of the Wakeman group were so great to work with. I can’t help to think that if I originally had Liz as my divorce lawyer I wouldn’t have had to hire her for my complex post divorce case to begin with. She is extremely knowledgeable, kind, compassionate, and always one step ahead of everyone. She was always upfront and honest about everything and the quality of her work and delivery did not go unnoticed. She was professional and caring throughout the whole process and was successful in getting what we were seeking in court. Everyone who is considering hiring Liz needs to Google and read the Chicago Tribune story about her most famous case. My impression of her was reforced. I have written a review in the past and it disappeared. Liz handled a malpractice case for me. I lost a kidney due to medical malpractice. The other attorneys ran circles around her during the depositions. She was not prepared. She hardly asked questions and they were superficial. When I tried to have other attorneys take over the case, they refused because of her poor job. Absolutely, no attorney said it was a weak or poor case. Excuses are easy versus taking responsibility for failure. I ended up giving up because of her.

Jenette was wonderful. She responded to all phone calls and emails quickly. Documents were prepared quickly and ahead of her projected timeframe. She was very patient with my elderly mother during the estate planning process. She explained everything so we could understand. She did not try to oversell. She explained services and did not try to push us into anything we did not need considering my mom’s assets. She charged a fair price for services compared to other attorneys I researched. I found this lady to be curt and rude. That's fine if you're dealing with the person Im suing, but to treat a NEW paying client that way is unacceptable.. By the time I decided that this was not somebody I would ever work with, which took all of about 25 billable minutes tops, and $250.00 later in fees for doing just about Nothing, I was done.

I called and left a message to set up an appointment. Two days later, I still have not heard back from her. At the very least someone could call me to tell me they would not take my case so that I can move on to another lawyer. Not good.

My son went to Illinois to buy a dirtbike and instead ended up being arrested. (Probationary licenses are different in Illinois then they are where we live in Wisconsin.) The police told us we would need to hire a lawyer to save Roberts license and avoid jail time! . So I googled a few, and found Mario. I read his biography and was so impressed with his duty to country. This told me he was respectful and had honor. Then I read about the personal tragedies hes been through and knew he was a fighter. This was the man I needed! And I'm glad we called him. Mario immediately got to work handling things. He let us know what was happening every step of the way and always called us back the same day to answer our questions. He saved our sons license which is needed with our small family business, and got things handled swiftly. This man is a top notch professional, a hero to our country, and the person you need fighting in your corner!

I hired Mr. Mario & had one too many traffic tickets. All i can say, is i dont regret one bit choosing him to represent. In such little time hes managed to close out some of my cases already. Aside from being a great attorney, overall hes a great person as well. You can tell hes really looking out for you. Ive appreciated all his work hes done for me and would recommend him to anybody. This should allow 0 stars! Kelly Wieczorek at this firm is very inexperienced and has no clue what she is doing. Also they are very intimidated by lies by the opposing party. They are not willing to represent a client in their best interest on a case! They will then withdraw on the case after one week! She also appears late to your important court hearing and is the one that caused harm to the case. It seems they will give anyone a law degree these days. All they care about is the financial benefit! Their response is all lies to protect a firm that will do Nothing in your best interest on a case. I highly recommend to find a better firm, there are many out there!

If I could give a zero star- I would. My husband and I hired Mrs. Kamman one year ago. Due to Covid- our court dates kept getting pushed out. After a YEAR- we finally were set to go to trial. This was a straight forward case- ONLY to modify my husbands child support order that was 5 years old. We provided her with everything she requested prior to court and were told she would “file” the necessary motions for us. Leading up to our court date- we could not reach her for status. No returned phone calls or emails. February 2021 we finally have trial. Judge calls our case- and she isn’t on the call. Judge says he will give an hour for her to get on, and join. We frantically start to call and email her- unsure of what is happening! After one hour- she is a no call no show. Judge ruled against us. We ask for a continuance and judge says “FOR WHAT- NOTHING HAS BEEN FILED ON YOUR BEHALF FOR THIS CASE”. Total jaw drop. A year of continued court cases and a stiff $3500 retainer with NOTHING to show for it. Almost three weeks later, here we are... and still NO common courtesy call or returned email. I’d advise against hiring this crook of an attorney. Contact ARDC and complain ASAP! This kind of practice is unethical.

I had a very positive experience with Mrs. Kamman as my divorce attorney. My case involved custody, a shared underwater home that was complex to get my name removed from (due to the mortgage company), and my wanting to maintain a positive relationship with my Ex. In other words, while it was a friendly divorce; it did involve several issues that needed legal expertise. Sue was able to provide that for me. Also Sue did an outstanding job presenting me in court. The McHenry county judges respect her and she has an excellent working relationship with them. She has the divorced court system memorized down to every detail and form. Recently my Ex passed away, and our child is still a teen. Sue was able to help and guide me on who to contact to take on this next complicated journey. She also was able to provide the estate attorney with the divorce documentation needed. It was very helpful to have her help during a very sad and stressful time.

Has taken my money but has refused to call me or respond to my emails for 2 weeks. You need to answer me you took my money. Edit only called me after this review and yelled at me that her email server went down. When I asked why she didn’t call she became irate. Very unprofessional. Note the unprofessional response as well. I only spoke with you, you never responded. Nor did I scream at anyone. Also why are you responding 6 months later at 1am?

I have been desperately trying to get in touch with my hired attorney, Sue Kamman, for over a month. Our last conversation she told me she was going to respond to my ex’s attorney the moment she hung up the phone, and she never did. Since then, she has not returned a single call, or email, no matter how much I try. This is an extremely difficult time in my (or anyone’s) life and by abandoning me after she got her retainer, she’s made it exponentially harder. Do your research, and understand that lawyers are exactly who you think they are. Especially this one. EDIT: After nearly 2 months since I’d posted the above review, I was able to finish out my divorce without the help of Sue Kamman. I had to go around her back in order to get things done because she would not act. She blamed server/email issues for her reason not for contacting me, for over 4 months. Not once did she return one of my many phone calls. Having given up on any help from Sue, I requested she withdraw from my case, so that I could represent myself and finish my divorce. She made zero efforts to do this, and when the court date came, the judge was waiting for her to show up to the zoom call for over a half hour. After my ex’s attorney pressured her, Sue joined the call, just to withdraw as my attorney. She still has over half of my retainer, and has done the bare minimum of work, and effort. If you ask me my opinion, Sue Kamman is a criminal, and a fraud. I’ve requested my retainer back from her multiple times, and I’ve again received no response. This practice shows absolutely no professionalism, or human decency. I am disgusted by her behavior and I hope that the ARDC investigates these claims, as no lawyer should be allowed to do this to anyone. Sue Kamman should be disbarred.

Attorney Eric Vogel is a great attorney. Honest, kind, and compassionate. We agreed at the beginning to be open and honest with each other. We both kept that agreement. Eric's knowledge is fantastic and always responded to questions and the divorce process. Eric also helped me find out if I was still a father or not. I can't think of many lawyers who would go the extra mile to see if the abortion actually happened. Tragically it did and Eric had such compassion. Not a review I thought I would ever write, but save your time and your money. Hire Eric to represent you. He's not just a divorce lawyer. He's a gentlemen and a scholar.
