Dealing with child custody issues is extremely tough and both physically and emotionally draining. I would argue that as an active duty service member it is more of a challenge because the opposing party/counsel can or will always use your service as a justification to not award custody. I have been back and forth for years dealing with custody issues but I have always put our children at the forefront of my goals. When I retained Rachel she was straight forward and honest about the potential outcomes. She promised she would fight for my children and I am telling you she did just that. 8 years ago Cindi Quay represented me for a custody battle and I was pleased with the outcome. About 3 years ago my boyfriend retained her to represent him in a custody case and we were extremely disappointed with her services. She would not request documents that he asked her to request we ended up doing so but was charged for it. Also records that were supposed to be subpoenaed by her never were subpoenaed and he was charged for that along with other charges for work she claimed to do but there was no proof of such work in the files when he requested his complete file for the custody case. Honestly most of the documents in his case file were the copies that he turned over to her because she wouldn't request the copies herself. Recently she has handled an estate case and we were mislead and lied to. I would NOT recommend anyone to use her for representation of any kind!

I would definitely give Cape Fear Family Law 10 stars if I could. I hired Roy Jacobs as my attorney in my custody case and could not be more pleased with his work. He always kept in communication with me and returned my calls and consulted with me before he did anything. He was also mindful of how he spent the money in my trust account so I could accomplish the most with my funds. Would I hire him again? Absolutely!! (Although, I hope I won't have to for a while) Roy fought for my family as if we were his family. His paralegal could not have been more helpful and nice to me. My husband and I only met with Mr. Tice for a consultation so what I can say is limited. His office staff is lovely and we were able to get an appointment quickly. Mr. Tice seems very knowledgeable about the area of family law in NC. He was able to give us some good advice and options about how to handle the issue we are faced with. However, since it originates from a different state there really wasn't a lot he could do for us. I think if someone is looking for a Family Law attorney Mr. Tice is definitely worth meeting with because he will be upfront and honest with you.

I had a conference with Lisa a while back where she explained some of the legal jargon for a custody matter that I was unsure of and sent me in the right direction of what my next steps should be. I felt that she was the kind of lawyer to go to bat for a client and unfortunately I needed a lawyer in another county, but if not I would have been comfortable handing the matter over to her. She worked with my husband and his ex-wife on visitation because he was not getting time with his girls when he was home. He is retiring and he wanted to make sure that he got the time that he deserved. My husband is a heavy haul truck driver and she went out of her way to make sure that she had phone appointments with him and she would make sure that she included me in the calls.
