I hired Andrea Doyle as my lawyer for my divorce and she was great to work with! Very professional and kind. I needed help with an unwanted separation by my wife. Ann Margaret treated everything very professional and I felt like she truly cared about me and my situation. I didn’t always like her advice but she kept me out of trouble. Separation and divorce are never simple and leave deep scars. After two long term successful marriages which ended in my wives dying from cancer I felt like marriage fit me well. However the lady I married 3 years ago and I was very happy with and thought she happy too but she abandoned me. I made an appointment two weeks in advance, I arrived 15 minutes early for paperwork, which I completed. I waited 20 minutes past appoint time in waiting room, then was put in conference room for next 10 minutes, then receptionist came in to inform me attorney was on phone and would be a bit. I was very frustrated just sitting waiting, while the office was quiet and the attorney was working in her office. I finally just left, I own a small business, I would not treat a customer like that, I was very surprised, very unprofessional I thought. If she didn't have time for appointment she should've cancelled.

Rosen law firm prepared a comprehensive separation agreement for me. They walked me through every step. Most importantly everyone I spoke to listened to me and supported my goals. Their diligence made negotiation very straightforward and ultimately my outcome was favorable and equitable. Before speaking to this firm, I spoke to one other firm that was not encouraging and dismissed my perspective entirely. This firm, Holly Groh, Shaunis, and Kinsey were wonderful to deal with and I have to repeat this ... they listened to me and in the end met my objectives. I agree with other reviewers, the flat fee eliminated a lot of stress and uncertainty. I highly recommend this firm.

Going through a divorce was exhausting, heart breaking, and draining (personally and financially) but with the expert guidance of Ms. Stephenson i knew I was in great hands. Thankfully, New Direction Family Law and all of their associates provided safety, care, and were incredibly attentive to my needs and concerns. Fizzy was such an amazing advocate and communicated with me regularly. They all do a great job in explaining the process, sharing options, and describing in regular plain-speak what to expect. I can’t speak more highly of this organization and their commitment to their clients. Divorce is hard but it won’t break you if you have the right lawyer to guide you through the process and take control of a tough situation.

My husband contacted NDFL a little over a year ago for a consultation with Carly Baker regarding child custody and visitation with his son. We live out of state in WV, and his child lives in Raleigh with his mother, so obviously good communication was very important to us as it just wasn't as easy for us to come into the office and do in person meetings. We immediately liked Carly very much, and felt she was very straightforward and practical, but also optimistic about my husbands case, and we got the impression from the beggining that the entire office was going to be efficient and very easy to work with. He had a few other consultations, but no one else made as big of an impression on him. He chose to retain Carly. From the get go it was very clear he had made the right choice. Carly was steady and reliable, while also being willing to be bold, and truly caring about his case's outcome, and his and his son's relationship. She and her paralegal Rosa had extremely good communication with us, we were never left in Limbo wondering what was happening, they were always prompt with not only responding to my husband, but also with communicating with opposing council. When Carly accepted an offer from another law firm, our case was transfered to Chris Hicks, and again, we had another great experience with Chris and Rosa. We were concerned about switching lawyers in the middle of the case, but they both did their best make the transition smooth. We also felt that both of our lawyers and their paralegal Rosa honestly cared about where and how our funds were being spent, and they did everything they could to give us the best value for what we paid them. From having Rosa prepare as much as possible to save on the hourly fee, to being straightforward with us as to what actions made the most financial sense while still being aggressive with his case, we always felt their billing was very fair. The entire firm, from the receptionists all the way up to the lawyers were always on top of their game and so nice and receptive. Both my husband and I are incredibly thankful that he had this law firm on his side, and we would recommend them and both lawyers to anyone needing a family lawyer in NC.

Chris Hicks was fantastic to work with! He was always responding quickly to all requests, which is a rare find with lawyers. He also had excellent turn around time with writing up legal motions, and all things were very well written and detailed. He was on time and ready for court proceedings, and seemed to have a good rapport with the judge - a very valuable thing when trying to have a case go your way. I'd highly recommend working with him if you ever are in need of a solid family law lawyer.

Divorce is tough, and unless you have no assets, no debt or liabilities, no children, etc., you need a good lawyer. I believe I found one in Sarah Hink at New Direction Family Law. Sarah was excellent at guiding me through and explaining the processes and steps that needed to be taken to obtain the divorce. I have recommended her already to a friend who was in much the same circumstances as I was. I would recommend her again.

Not worth the price and did not live up to reviews. I was recommended by 3 different professionals to a particular lawyer, whom was not availabile, and I should have walked away not only then, but the additional two times my interaction with their staff was not positive. If they sense you are unhappy they will change their tune, but overall , they have their stance from jump about your case and will do little to rise against whatever the states tide is. I wanted lawyers who were not money hungry, and who believed in my story my story and would fight ferociously for myself and my daughter. And if they didnt believe in my stance then they shouldve never agreed to represent me. Not all files were obtained in time, last minute fees were charged or billed to me (knowing im a single mother and with court around the corner) demanding funds before work was even done alnd threatening not to represent you (for not being paid for work not yet done). They also cease communication abruptly and for weeks at a time. Lots of errors happened in court that they didnt even try to correct in themoment. Nw i have to eat a loss and pay an insane amount of money to ppl who never cared about the custody battle itself. Also, not talking about retainer fee, that is indeed common sense.

Lillie Ashworth is so amazing. No one ever really wants to need the services of a divorce attorney, however, when a friend recommended Lillie, I knew I was putting myself in the most capable hands immediately. She had the ability to balance what was incredibly personal and emotional to me with the professionalism and the knowledge of the court systems and the laws that we were getting ready to navigate. One of the hardest parts, I found in this process was how long the state of North Carolina makes it, and trying to get through this with the added obstacle of Covid. I know I would have never been able to do this without her keeping me calm and focused on the tasks at hand. Divorce is a business transaction at its core, but she was able to be very sensitive to my feelings while still guiding. She was very organized and kept me up to date on the work that she was doing behind the scenes on my case, I never felt like my case was not the most important thing on her desk, even though I know I was not the only client! She has the ability to look at my situation and not try and fit it into the same box as anyone else. She recognized that every case is different, and make me feel reassured. Lillie researched every aspect of my case and made me feel like she was searching for the solution to my particular problem and challenges. I Retained Lillie to help with separation and division of assets. Shortly after I was served with papers and then it turned into litigation and ended in mediation. Which ended very well for me because of Lillie. She is spot on ! Divorce is personal, but she takes that out of play and sticks to the facts and the law.
