I live in Texas. The legal problems were in Ohio. The person who was in trouble lived in North Carolina. What to do? I hit the internet to look up and check out (as best I could) 3 or 4 Ohio attorneys. I feel so blessed that I chose Mr. Piper. He investigated for me and found my foster son's problems were multiple and included a bench warrant. He was kind and patient, instructive, and led us through the process of clearing up what turned out to be a complicated mess. My situation could have become a costly quagmire if Mr. Piper were other than the honest, timely, and knowledgeable man that he is. I definitely recommend him.

Petroff Law Office has the best team of lawyers that you could ask for. I had the pleasure of working with Michelle Meis and Ron Petroff. My case looked hopeless before they became involved. I had a judge who was very displeased with me, an attorney who wasn't representing me and hurting my case and I was terrified. Ron accepted my case when no other attorney in Columbus would help. Petroff law is hands down the best. You can tell as soon as Andrea answers the phone to schedule your initial appointment that you are dealing with superiority. Their entire staff is just lovely, personable, well educated and patient... and just incase you need to hear this, you deserve the best. You are worth every last red cent that you will spend here. My child support got reduced last year shortly after moving to Columbus. Earlier that year I had accidentally let myself get screwed over in my dissolution... I just wanted out. Had I known about Petroff then, I would have hired him. At first, I paid for the initial consultation and after hearing my case, they helped me figure out what I needed to file on my own so that I could represent myself. I am confident that, had I not been dealing with an ex who has caused me to have severe PTSD, I would have been fine... but it came to the hearing and I panicked... BIG TIME. Due to major errors on my part, I was facing possibly losing my kids. So I went back to Petroff, not only did he get me out of trouble, but he got me a good deal that I could have been happy with if my ex was anyone normal. I decided that we needed to go to trial, even though Ron warned me of the massive risk I was taking. But he won the case for me anyway. There were several times over the last few months that Ron reminded me of how much money I was spending on dragging this out and having him represent me in Hancock County (1.5hr drive from Columbus), which was very sweet since I am the single mother of five and every penny counts... I always responded to him with "Oh you know I think you are worth every last red cent!", and to be sure, he is! But as I was writing up my thank you card the other day I realized... what I was really saying was that I was worth every last red cent. I hired Ron as my lawyer because I needed to modify my shared parenting agreement and I needed a fresh perspective. Ron and his team were very efficient with their time. He is direct and breaks the situation down simply. I had confidence he understood the different facets of my situation. It ended up being a 5 day trial and I felt I was very well represented. I also will say the way he bills and used my time was very appropriate. I have an eagle eye in this area and I feel he was responsible and respectful of my time and money. When I first started with them I asked for a woman to represent me. They said ok and the male attorney showed up instead. I felt a woman would be better equipped. They agreed but did not honor their agreement to provide a woman who obviously was available. The guy just kept telling me how lucky I was to have great attorneys working with me now and bringing up money even while we were at court. Their billing practices are outrageous. They care about their clients only if they are rich. They have people who are not attorneys do their heavy lifting, charge you an insane amount and will barely answer the phone or reply to emails. Again if you're rich you'll get the white glove treatment if not they will treat you like an untouchable. Can't say enough about how much these people are terrible individuals and represent what everyone hates about attorneys.

After having a poor experience with another attorney, I set out to hire the *right* attorney. I went through an EXTENSIVE interview process with nearly ten attorneys. I narrowed the list down to three. When I chose Ralph Kerns, I contacted the other two attorneys and advised them of my choice, to which they both indicated I made a great choice. Respect from competitors is always a good sign. Ralph is a very good attorney. He understands domestic law very well and I would certainly recommend him with one caveat. Where his firm, and frankly I think many attorneys miss the boat is in the customer service department. The firm in general is not consistently pleasurable or prompt with replies to calls or emails. I did experience miss-communications on more than one occasion. I personally know many attorneys and this seems to be a very common issue. I don't know if it's that they are simply over worked or that they are just so wrapped up in what they do in the court room, that they forget how important it is to provide the service we as paying clients need... and deserve. If working with them were more enjoyable, I would have given them a 5+ star review. Another point about Ralph A. Kerns & Associates that I did like is they seem to bill quite fairly and do not nickle and dime. So if you are looking for a very skilled attorney at a reasonable rate and you have the patience to deal with average service, this firm is for you.

DO NOT HIRE RALPH KERNS. I am a former football player at Ohio State and a tech entrepreneur. I hired Ralph Kerns to defend me in my divorce case and it’s been three years and I still haven’t seen my children. He and the opposing party worked together to throw my case. He convinced me that it was a good idea to sign over the deed of my house to my ex wife in the middle of the divorce. And coerced me into signing the rights away to my children. He is for sale and the opposing party can buy him. Do not hire him and he should be facing litigation and his license should be suspended.

I needed representation in a domestic relations case; I was told the Chelsea Long was willing to represent me, but needed to submit something to an ethics committee because of the nature of my case. I waited three weeks for a response from her or her office and never received one. In the meantime I was threatened by the other party's attorney to be thrown in jail for contempt of court because I didn't respond fast enough to the other party's request. This practice was supposed to be really good, and I'm disappointed with my experience. I hope others have a better experience.

Our experience with Mr. Vassy has been really exceptional. He has worked on a few of my cases. He isn’t that expensive he worked with us to make payments.
