I used this firm for my Divorce which is started in August of 2020. I was scared and had no idea where to begin and they helped me every step of the way. While getting divorced was sad and very emotional, Michelle and her whole team were incredibly responsive and answered all of my questions. I started working with the Hopkins Law Firm back in November 2019 when I needed a lawyer because I was, suddenly, dropped by the highly recommended one firm this area. I picked up the phone and asked: "Hey Google, give me a Lawyer in Gainesville, Virginia" And this is how it started;. Since then and now, when I am a free man, with all my family affairs resolved by this excellent law firm and loving again (I never thought and hoped that I will be happy again). They where near me all the time, face to face meetings, courts appearances (won all the time), phone, text and e-mail conversations. They promise me that I will rise again (like a Phoenix bird) from the ashes that I was burned down by the system and society and they were right; I am back, stronger and happier than ever. Laurel brigade law group was fantastic all the way through my case I was involved in. Eric Demetriades handled my case, he was professional, quick to respond to any of my concerns I had, and made me feel like my problem was his top concern. The pricing was fair and not having ever dealt with lawyers or anything like this before i was pleasantly surprised by the whole ordeal. 5 stars is not enough for Mr. Soldan. Having never been in the specific type of legal trouble that he specializes in, I was completely lost and worried. Luckily the personal reviews from his previous clients gave me confidence. Mr. Soldan responded with urgency and accuracy upon my initial request for consultation. Mine was a special case that extended past the usual 6 month period but resulted in the best outcome possible. Ugh. Do not hire Donna Dougherty to handle your case. When you meet her, you'll find that she is, in my opinion, brash and abrasive and unquestionably condescending. Your first thought is "Perfect, that's how she's going to work tirelessly on my behalf." You'll be wrong. That's how she'll continue to treat you and good luck getting to effectively advocate on your behalf. In my specific experience, she will rather yell at you (as her client) than work with opposing counsel on an amicable resolution (as I've learned since severing ties with this firm). My initial consult was full of "we're going to do this" and "we'll file this" and all great salesmanship. I was excited...finally an attorney that really wants to do more than push papers and genuinely wants to help create an optimal outcome for my child. Boo. Within 2 days of writing that first big monster retainer check to Donna, before any additional documentation was provided, the tone rapidly degraded to (paraphrased) "well, I'm not sure" and "hopefully we'll prevail" type speak. Sadly, I fell for it all and have lost almost every financial resource in the process. Now Donna is going after what little is left. That's really all you need to know about the character of the character. To say I've had nothing but problems feels like a gross understatement. Donna ran up my legal tab at a rate that has offended attorneys I've consulted with since; and it takes a lot to offend another attorney. Ultimately, Donna lost my case. Anything can happen in a courtroom, but this was a worst case scenario in the face of what should have been, fairly objectively, a ruling 180 degrees in the opposite direction. Despite being the attorney I retained, Donna did not appear at the hearing to argue for attorney fees (sadly, the mostly expensive part of the entire matter) and sent an associate instead. That mistake was another $12000+ on top of the mostly unsubstantiated $20k+ billed for a very simple case (that she lost). Now Donna is suing me although I've yet to be provided any granular itemization of the billable work "provided." Always beware of lawyers that gleefully sue their clients; it's a litmus test as to where their priorities lie in terms of monetary greed vs client advocacy. And, to pour more salt in the wound, Donna is now demanding 24% interest and thousands more in legal fees for suing her own client (me in this case). Her reputation in the local family law community exists for very good reasons. I wish I had figured that out beforehand (back before the reorganization of the firm). FINAL WARNING: If you're dealing with a sensitive family law matter involving your young children and their private meetings with therapists, you may want to consider a law office that does not send confidential psychiatric documentation to the WRONG CLIENT! That's right. Donna's law office sent me an another client's very private and sensitive data regarding the child's meetings with a therapist. I've yet to ever be answered as to whether sensitive data from my case was sent to someone else. If you retain her, perhaps you can update me on my case if/when you receive the wrong confidential records too. Don't make the mistake of making what is likely the most stressful and emotionally wrenching process of your life that much worse by hiring an attorney that values your checking account significantly more than operating in the best interests of you and your child/children.

Amy Tobias has been this Dad's attorney through a pretty complicated divorce, with issues that have flared up repeatedly over 9+ years. She has represented and advised me while she was an associate, a sole practitioner, and now as a partner. This is one very intelligent lady and knowledgeable and competent family law attorney. Her advice is always sound and direct. She cuts through the fluff and tells me what I need to know and what she needs from me. When we've had actual contested hearings, the results have always been in my favor.

I have truly been blessed to find a law firm who is warm, supportive and caring for their clients, but killer Great White Sharks in the courtroom for divorce/custody. Amy Tobias and Claire Salitsky gave me my life back……..my son! I started off with a different law firm, which he was HORRIBLE!!!! I felt helpless and felt he did not put any effort into my case, just collecting my check. Before I came to Dougherty Tobias Iszard, Northern Virginia Law, I thought I could lose my son for no reason other than poor lawyer representation. That all changed when I went to Dougherty Tobias Iszard, Northern Virginia Law! I will say, these ladies are expensive, but I'm telling you they are WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!! Don’t believe anything was done for me. If court appoints a mediator go with them, could have done better myself with them and paid less in child support and not paid a lawyer! Also wouldn’t have to wait 9 months until the trial date, and just to be disappointed after trail that nothing changed after the temp motion case. Also not be down over $1000 a month in child support. Lawyer says it’s okay you make a lot of money. Lesson learned hopefully you also don’t make mistake and go with a mediator if the court appoints it. I believe this is the worse that could have happened to me and it did. Even though I had a good case, kids were raised with me, and other parent had mental problems and lives less than 2 miles away. Couldn’t get 50/50 custody, could have gotten closer to 50/50 with mediator and not be down thousands. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Easiest divorce ever. But in all honesty this place was great. Might be a little bit more expensive than another firm (i wouldn't really know, i didn't shop around much) but the made everything extremely simple, and spoke to me in a respectful manner. Nothing was difficult to understand and all in really had to do was sign a few papers when the time came. My mother recommended them because they helped her about 20 years ago or so and they helped me as well. Really appreciate everyone here.

I highly recommend the Daugherty Law Firm and more specifically Kate Daughtery. When I first began my divorce I had no idea what to expect and immediately after our first consultation I felt relieved to be able to hire Kate as my counsel. She was very knowledgeable of what to expect, what to do and how certain decisions will impact myself. Throughout the entire divorce which lasted almost twelve months, due to the separation timeline, Kate was extremely helpful and diligent from start to finish. I always felt that I was confident with her and that I wasn’t being misled or misinformed. When the final stages of the divorce were being discussed, this was one of the hardest parts of the divorce because as a man the laws are rarely in our favor for these types of situations. Kate was honest and negotiated what I believe was the best possible scenario for myself given the circumstances. In closing, divorce is not cheap and a decision not to take lightly. Kate and the Daugherty Law Firm are worth every dollar and are the type of professionals you dream of when having to deal with such an important life event.

Amanda Kimble and Michelle Evan’s were great! I had to place my divorce case on hold and without hesitation and great appreciation Amanda picked up the case. Ms. Huchler (my lawyer), Ms. Wallace, Ms. Membreno and Ms. Arp were amazing to work with with throughout the entire process of my divorce! They were very responsive always returning my emails in a timely manner, answered all questions about any legal matter I had so well that a regular guy, like myself, could understand! And you always felt like they cared about helping you and defending you, I know they had several clients they were working with, but I always felt like I had their full attention. Incredibly professional and responsive. We had what I thought might be a legal situation which turned into an emergency for us at the eleventh hour. We had had no time to prepare. I frantically called the firm at the very end of the day to see whether we needed an attorney (a call I should have made days earlier.) The very patient woman who answered my call spent a good amount of time taking down all the details of the situation including my "burning" questions and promised to call me back the next day. Not only did she call me back, but she again took the time to convey to me the information I was so desperately looking for. Turns out it wasn't a legal matter, so it wasn't like I was going to become a client, yet she still was incredibly helpful. Her responsiveness and kindness were such a blessing to me. I would highly recommend this firm!

I am a young, IT professional, residing in the Northern Virginia area who has been familiar with divorce, separation and family law for about 4 years now. This is due to a really bad divorce and child custody battle between my ex wife and I. I had two attorneys that I retained the first time around and although i got what i feel was decent representation, it did not come close to what Lindsay has done for me. It was like she took this case personally. Unlike previous lawyers, Lindsay did not wait until last minute to prepare for this case. From day one she took the time ti not only get familiar with the case, but she took time to get to know me as an individual. This was especially important because i was the main witness in my defense. She took advantage of my strengths and took into consideration my weaknesses. This was critical in preparing me to take the stand. One thing that really stood out to me and comforted me in this matter was receiving emails from her late in the evening. This let me know that my case was of the upmost priority for her as that is usually time I personally reserve for personal matters and I would NEVER let work interrupt that, not Lindsay. I could really spend days going over why I am SO satisfied with her services, but I will save everyone the time. I got exactly what I had been asking for, from this case. Lindsay was very likable to the judge and had great confidence and delivery. Honestly, I would have written this review EVEN if things did NOT go my way in trial. She deserves it! I was stuck in a marriage that wasn't good for me or my son. I was referred to this firm by a friend, and I couldn't be happier with how my case has been handled. I met with one of the partners when I first came in, and my case was given to an attorney whose skills and style were perfectly suited for me, and for what I wanted out of the case.
