I called other lawyers who wouldn't even talk with me without first plunking down a sizable retainer. Melanie asked for a reasonable retainer only after I decided that I wished to have her represent me. Her billing rate was on par and the hours charged for her work on my behalf were likely understated. Melanie works on your level. She is never condensing and wants to help you make the best informed choices for your situation. At no time does she push you or demand you do things her way. She wants the very best outcome for you and works diligently to achieve success. Even after my court hearing, Melanie was there for me with words of encouragement and empathy. Melanie is simply AWESOME! I thoroughly enjoyed working with Melanie. She is very personable and really cares about her clients as individuals and therefore, works hard to understand and meet your goals/needs. She is extremely responsive (not common in the industry) and makes herself available as much as possible (which may include providing her cell number to text/call as necessary). She even helped me with an urgent situation in the middle of the night (also unheard of in the industry). She was very fair with her fees (I also didn't feel like the clock was always ticking) and offered a large discount when paying invoices right away (another benefit that I haven't seen others offer). Lastly, Melanie is extremely organized. I was shocked at the amount of paperwork (two or three boxes full) that she had neatly placed into several binders, clearly marked and labeled for easy reference for yourself and the court. This is HUGE for cases! I highly recommend her! You won't regret it!

Cobie Spevak took over the majority of my case and was absolutely phenomenal. Her experience and knowledge were key. My Husband and I worked with Nick back in 2018-2019 due to a false protective order and custody modification. He fought for what my husband wanted and did everything he could to achieve it. Wade was great to work with. I had a complicated divorce with a lot of businesses that were interconnected. Wade was creative in solutions and collaborative with my ex's attorney, which was important to me in coming to an equitable solution. Some cases require going to court, and Wade was ready and willing to do that, but he was excellent working with me and my ex in coming to an equitable resolution to our divorce without having to go to court.

If you need a family law attorney, Mark is your guy. We had a very complicated adoption case, and he was always on top of his business. He explains things clearly and patiently answers any questions you have. He does research into your case and is open to ideas and angles to use within the law. We have worked with Wade Taylor on divorce modifications twice now; the first time he did a decent job. This time we have been trying to get a modification done for almost a year. He is literally impossible to get a hold of, he goes months without completing even the smallest thing, and we only ever are able to contact his paralegal. He has done nothing but still managed to spend our money; meanwhile, we are trying to get this modification done before ORS goes through based on the way the divorce decree used to be. We finally fired him because it turns out we can muddle through things on our own faster than Wade will ever do anything, and not surprisingly it has been over a month since firing him without getting the tiny remains of our retainer check back in spite of being asked to verify our address 3 different times. Divorce and modifications are not fun at the best of times; Wade has made it truly awful this time. 0/10 don’t recommend.

Nick Gottwald is an incredible lawyer. I had a non-contested divorce that I filed for in mid-April, and it just finalized today! He was so kind and explained everything going on without making me feel stupid for not understanding the legal jargon in the paperwork. I was referred to Russ Hartvigsen from another attorney. Sadly to say, I paid the retainer for a flat rate to get me through settlement conference. However after a one page filing to reopen my case, I was able to settle with my ex on my own. In request for an invoice of work completed and refund of any balance I have sent probably 10 emails with requests and completely ignored. All integrity of this practice is lost when money is the only motivator. Now I have to hire another attorney to recover unused funds that was contributed to this retainer. Super! Would not recommend

If you're looking for someone who cares, someone who treats you like a friend, someone who follows through on his word, look no further...Russ Hartvigsen is the best attorney around! I have had several 'not so great' experiences with other attorney's in the past and this was not one of them. I met with Russ on a Wednesday afternoon and gave him to green light. That Friday just 2 days later, I had a signed order from the courts for this emergent situation I had been dealing with. He made it happen. He did what the 2 other attorney's couldn't do in months and even years. He treated my situation as if it was his own. Russ is attentive, loyal, caring, compassionate and more. I was stressed to start over with new representation, having to retell my life story while hoping the new attorney was invested/listening. I knew I had found my guy with only a consultation (free of charge.) Russ was and still is 100% dedicated and present with anything I need. Another benefit with Atticus Legal Group is the way they bill. In past experiences I felt anxiety sending emails, calling, asking questions etc, because I knew I was being charged left and right for, in my opinion doing their job. **Flat fee billing is how they bill...Not to mention lower prices than other firms out there. Ask all the questions you need, call, email, hey, even stop by the office, you won't be charged extra! Schedule a consult and see for yourself!

Absolutely one of the worst mistakes that I've ever made was hiring Steve. I'm no further in my case then I was 4 years ago other then I'm divorced. Yet his bill goes up . I've had 5 different attorneys from that office on my case and not one is still working for his firm. In 4 years I could give you so many reasons why not to hire him. He knows that he's done me no justice and I really believe that he feels good about it. I have a judgment on my ex that he has not done anything with. I showed up for court no attorney because it got canceled and no one informed me. I can't put my house in my name. I've missed out on 3 interest rates that are much much lower then what I'm paying. My last bill they were trying to charge me for the change in my ex attorney which has nothing to do with me. So In one month it will be 5 years and I'm still stuck.

It felt like going in circles and talking about the same thing over and over each time with these people for months. I was mislead and uninformed by the four different people who were reassigned my case. Leading to me having to pay the entire bill and my ex not being responsible for any of it. The response time on communication was sporadic. Each time my case was reassigned without my request I was billed for having to reexplain everything, starting from square one each time. I was even billed for a phone call from my ex that I didn't authorize. They will drag your case out for way longer than it should take and make excuses as to why but it's just to get more money from you.

When I began my journey, I had no idea what divorce would look, nor feel like. I do remember that the overwhelming feeling was one of distrust. I no longer trusted my wife, I lost trust in my friends and almost lost trust in my own self. I had never sought legal counsel before in my life. My sister was in need of an attorney who could take care of things for her and her husband. I found Adam for her through a search on the internet. The office called right away and put me in touch with Adam. He was very patient and knowledgeable in answering our questions. He explained exactly how things work and what needed to be done.
